Mara was born in 1976 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. At a very young age she showed aptitude and interest for the arts in general.
Through her young adult years, she always dreamed to travel and so she did. She focused on discovering Argentina first and then she traveled to Spain and around United States of America. She lived in Los Angeles for some years and then she made her way to Vancouver Island, BC Canada, where she made this beautiful island her home. Today having her studio surrounded by nature.
Mara is a cancer survivor. But to say that she is a cancer survivor is an understatement. She has had to overcome many health obstacles and as she struggled, she found art to be the only approach to be able to express what she was feeling. As her body changed so did her mind.
Today Mara is an independent, creative, accomplished and unique artist, that looks beyond the confines of four walls for her inspiration. You can see this in some of her art works where she utilizes the sea, female forms, animals and eyes as some of the tools to describe a feeling.
Sometimes when she can't sleep she dreams with herself painting, so she gets up and she goes into her studio as it is the place she is the most comfortable and where she feels alive.
She paints with oil, acrylics & watercolours but her favourite medium is oil, She has done some photography as well as sculpture, she writes short stories and poems. (published)
She is always open to try new and different art forms. She is not locked on one style and this has caused some controversy with different organizations.
She puts all of herself in each art piece she births. She is a very sensitive artist and her senses are always open to perceive the world around her and that’s something you can see through her art.
Growing up in Buenos Aires, Argentina I always had an interest for art, clay & plaster sculptures, charcoal drawings, markers illustrations but it wasn't until I faced my second unrelated cancer that I immersed myself in acrylic paintings where all this amazing odyssey started.
And today you become part of my history.
Today I use many different mediums to create original art such as oils, watercolours, acrylic & ink paintings
I believe that working in a single medium is restrictive to my artistic process.
However I find myself utterly in love with oils...
Each idea manifests in its own individual style and medium.
I enjoy walking by the sea when I can (some of us give walking for granted until its hard to walk just a few steps) in my spare time, my dog Diya running around the rocks and getting her paws wet was my happy place!
Today I learn from my puppy Koda who is growing to be a big baby, he is teaching me that I can love, laugh and play again

Many of my pieces are directly influenced by these hikes in nature. I love letting the beach, the wind, the sun, the rain and everything in between materialize in my work.
And we live in such a beautiful world that inspiration comes from everywhere!
