It was an amazing experience being able to meet SO MANY of you who have been loving my work since I started!
I got to meet so many NEW faces and I really am humbled by the things I was told yesterday.
It truly was a great reality check where many commented how truly much they love my art! It’s empowering and humbling at the same time as these oil paintings were created with the very same hands that were blessed hugging yesterday!
And for so many of you to come over and take the time to tell me the connection and emotions you feel when staring at them face to face was … uffff! So so strong! So many emotions of joy and thankfulness and laughter and excitement mixed with shyness and sheer surprise! Thank you! From my heart to all those almost 500 souls that stopped by (there was a moment I was talking to a lady who asked me for my card, I leaned over to handle her one and to my surprise again and again the card holder was empty!) So thank you to each of you for taking the time and coming to see my work and talking to me!
Thank you to the new clients I will be working on commissions for! Thank you to everyone who have bought art from me before and stopped by to say hi! And thank you to everyone who is interested in one of the pieces they saw yesterday! So many conversations about San Josef Bay and Port Renfrew and the Into the Mist few pieces remaining were a hit!

Hello Mara,
On behalf of the entire CSJR team, I would like to thank you for your participation in the exhibition "Crossroads of life: My story behind the work".
Your work particularly touched us and we are happy that it was able to be selected among the 250 works received. Thank you for taking the time to write the story behind this one with truth and confidence. It is these shared life stories that resonated deeply with us when we visited the exhibition.
This exhibition, produced in collaboration with the online art gallery Gallea, was financially supported by the National Victims and Survivors Week (Justice Canada). We are happy to send you a certificate thanking you for your participation in this Week.

We have been very impressed with your artistic production and we are glad to inform you that Mind-Full, Sunflower field, Paz and Driving a convertible have been selected for publication in the next Special edition of ART Habens Art Review. In particular, we have been highly impressed with your exploration of the relationship between reality and imagination, we really appreciate the way your artistic research responds to Andreas Gursky's words, when he stated that artists should not be delivering any report on reality, but should be looking at what's behind reality, providing your audience with such multilayered intellectual-involvement. So we'll be pleased to submit you a personal interview that will be featured in the next special Biennial Edition of our art publication. Besides of those artworks, we have been impressed with further projects of yours, as the interesting La Barca, Dusk and Silver, that we'll be happy to include in your article, as well, in order to provide our readers with a wider idea of your multifaceted production. ...and in return of it you will receive a 32 pages article in the next issue of ART Habens Art Review. 2021 TD ARTIST GUIDE
I am very excited to share that I have received an email a few days ago where I learned that my work was accepted to be part of the @artgalleryvic 2021 TD Artist Guide.
Dear Mara G. Szyp,
We hope your summers are off to a wonderful start and are excited to have your work as part of the TD Artist Guide this year. We are looking forward to launching the virtual version of the Guide on July 1st. Copies of the printed guide will be available at the AGGV and select TD - you will receive an update as soon as it is available for pick up!
My interview on HERE! Magazine was a great opportunity to talk about being an immigrant in this beautiful city and also feeling local after so many years of living here.
Jakelina Listes , Director of Partnership and Collaboration, did a terrific job interviewing me and her words and the way she tells my story could have not been better.
The Archipelago Art Galley was a project started by President and Artist David Skrypnyk, who making incredibly beautiful arrangements was able to open an art gallery at a 1892 Character home in the heart of James Bay.
David Skrypnyk first found Mara when she was doing her ongoing show at Heron Bistro Restaurant. He fell in love with some of her artworks and he commissioned her to create two special pieces for him. "Mara Driving a Ferrari California" and "The Red Room". David Skrypnyk also bought 10 other artworks for his personal collection (photos available on gallery and sold pieces)
Later on he had Mara as a guest artist at the gallery and she would be booked in advance with visitors who wanted a guided tours with the creator of the 12 most controversial art pieces in one of the areas of the gallery.
Sadly, this Art Gallery did not survive the Covid-19 crisis.
I feel incredibly proud to be the guest artist of the 2nd Annual Community Connections Fair. This year I will be there showing some of my most meaningful and controversial artworks (three of my definitely requested works Asia, Leroy and Zahid from the 8 piece and growing collection Children of our world/ Faces of war will be there!) and to answer any questions regarding my art that the visitors & guests may have for me.
Dr. Lisa Gunderson from One Love Consulting (https://oneloveconsulting.com) & Cecilia Rossander, Social Programs Officer at William Head Institution and on behalf of the Ethno Cultural Committee have invited me and I feel honoured to be part of this event.
I hope to see you there
Personaland begun as a creative urge nearly forty years ago, visionary artist, Stewart Wilson, has fashioned over 31,000 individual sculptures - the Personas - wrapped representative from anther dimension. In addition to thes sculptures, Stewart has created thousands of drawings, paintings, prints and tableaus about them which have been exhibited and distributed world-wide. The Personas have been the topic of articles from the New York Times to MTV, Japanese fashion journals, Neiman Marcus catalogues and numerous art publications. Stewart has been co-founder of two non-profit arts organizations, Public Image (1980-84, NYC) and Art well Gallery (1995-2011, Northwest CT).
Stewart Wilson is a great human being and he has supported me from the start! Take a look into his world!
I was approached by the magazine's editor to see if I wanted to feature my work on their issue #20.
And then I got offered to be on the cover!!! and I got paid!
I was so exited about this!
it was one of those moments that you feel like running and phoning your mom and letting her know!
Sadly the magazine has closed down since.
But I got my moment of happy!
And I am very Thankful.
Extremely Thankful to have two of my artworks selected and published by this dear magazine once again!
Thank you team at October Hill Magazine, New York, USA.
A special mention to Samantha Morley for making it possible to share their issues with all of you!
Incredibly excited and proud of once again having my artworks and my poem published by the Remarkable team at October Hill Magazine, New York, USA.
Where the talented team led by Richard Merli puts together an outstanding selection of poems, fiction short stories, and art to invite the reader to dream with their eyes open.
Szyp.ca Poetry made it to New York! “Golden Storm” has been featured on their Spring 2019 issue by October Hill Magazine.
Thank you Richard Merli and OHM team!
Everyday is shining brighter! Thank you to each of you who have been walking this path beside me!
Big hugs!!! Let’s celebrate 🥂!!!
I have worked on a special project. I was contacted by a facilitator from the Saskatchewan correctional centre. They were running program to help people who for the wrong choices are inside and unable to maintain a strong relationship with their love ones.
Some of the participants of this program have decided to write books. Books that they hope, will help them rekindle that relationship. And I am so glad and thankful I had the chance to collaborate with them as illustrator of one of the books. Wyatt Bear is the author.
This is the piece that was juried for the show
this piece is still available
Wouldn't it look divine in your home?
